Our Story

From One Tray of Mithai to Two Bustling Shops

Suraj Sweet Centre began in 1998 as a small family operation with a single goal – to bring authentic Indian mithai to Birmingham, just the way it is made back home.

A Family Business at Heart

What started as a modest home kitchen has grown into two busy shops serving thousands of customers every year. From early mornings spent roasting nuts and boiling milk, to late nights preparing trays for weddings and festivals, Suraj Sweet Centre has always been driven by family, community and craft.

Every recipe on our menu has been refined over decades – some passed down through generations, others created right here in Birmingham. We still believe in doing things the right way: using quality ingredients, preparing in small batches and tasting every tray before it leaves the kitchen.

Our Commitment to Quality

Mithai that tastes like it’s made for your own family – because that’s how we make it.

Handcrafted Daily

We prepare our sweets in small batches throughout the day so that what you buy is always fresh, never stale.

Carefully Sourced Ingredients

From premium nuts and ghee to high-quality dairy, we choose ingredients we’d be proud to serve our own families.

Consistent Taste

Our core recipes have remained unchanged for years – so your favourite mithai tastes just the way you remember.

Community First

We’ve been part of celebrations, festivals and life events across Birmingham for over two decades.
